Shawnna Kathleen Johnson

Shawnna Kathleen Johnson, 63, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. She was born Shawnna Kathleen Eaves on September 1, 1962 in Fort Madison, Iowa to Billy Jim Eaves and Patricia Ann (Burgund) Eaves. She lived a life full of love, faith, loyalty, service to others, and joy.

Shawnna attended high school in Fort Madison, where, at the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Richard Allen Johnson, during a church function. The two were married on June 19, 1979, and recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on enduring love, steadfast faith, and a deep devotion to their family.

Shawnna’s life was defined by love for her family, often sacrificing her own needs and desires to benefit others. She spent most of her working life assisting her husband, Richard, in running their powersports business, Midwest Performance in Keokuk, IA. She worked as a secretary, manager, and co-owner, usually doing all three at once. She was deeply respected and loved by all the employees. She did all this while juggling raising two children and serving actively in her church and community.

Her heart was truly aflame in serving the Lord, and she had a heart for missions. She served her local church in teaching Missionettes, a girls’ ministry and education program. Shawnna actively participated in missions trips, led missions teams, and supported missionaries. She enjoyed sponsoring overseas children in need, oftentimes supporting many at a time. She also co-led small groups with her husband Richard.

Shawnna was active in serving her community by making elaborate costumes for the drama and madrigal clubs at the Keokuk Senior High School. She also was part of the Keokuk Sisters Cities program, traveling to Japan and hosting Japanese exchange students in her home.

Shawnna’s greatest desire was for others to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and often prayed fervently for them.  Whether it was children, families, neighbors, coworkers, or family members, she showed the love of Jesus to everyone she met. She was “Momma” to many people, young and old, and never ceased in showing the care and love she had for them.

Shawnna was an extremely gifted artist and craftswoman, always with a penchant for perfection. She painted, was an excellent seamstress, and had a talent for woodworking. She enjoyed metal detecting, rock collecting, and played the flute in her younger years. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family and friends. There were many days spent playing cards, board games, and laughing, often late into the night. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
